On this piece
A first real piece of Navajo silver, or a fine addition to a collection — this cobblestone cuff by the Navajo artisan Sheryl Martinez is both. She’s fitted a mosaic of multicolored stones across the top of a sterling band in the cobblestone tradition, each stone cut and set by hand, and signed it with her distinctive S.M. mark — the sign of authentic, named craftsmanship. It’s a size 6.5, in excellent condition, and at this price it’s one of the more accessible ways to own genuine, signed Navajo work rather than the mass-produced imitations that mimic the look and skip the skill. Don’t mistake accessible for lesser: the technique here is the same demanding cobblestone inlay found on pieces costing far more. A real cuff, by a real silversmith, that will wear for decades and only look better for it. Where a serious collection can begin.
