Karl Lee worked at Nepenthe in Big Sur and helped define, over a generation, what West Coast design looked like: minimalist, superbly made, and built around materials he found himself. This ring is that practice in miniature. He sourced and collected the variscite, then carved it into its domed shape; the collar is solid 22K yellow gold and the body is 925 sterling. It is hallmarked inside with Karl Lee, Big Sur, his own pictorial mark with a copyright, Handmade, USA, 925 and 22K, which is a maker signing his work six ways over. It weighs 16.74 grams and is a size 5.25, resizable by your own jeweler; we don't resize, because a ring like this should be fitted in person. Excellent condition, with minor marks to the gold and silver from previous wear. His design legacy continues at Big Sur Goldsmiths through his son and daughter-in-law.
