Kenneth Jay Lane went on to sell panther cuffs by the thousand, and you can find them anywhere. This is one of the originals, and quite possibly the original that started it. It is a central book piece in Lane's own Faking It, pictured on page 98 and described there exactly as it appears here: rhodium and gold-plated metal, pavé rhinestones, emerald and jade green enamels, and two green cabochons for the eyes. The hundreds of pavé stones throw light in every direction, which was plainly the intention. It is signed K.J.L., the very first mark Lane used. Very good vintage condition: the clasp holds nice and tight and every rhinestone is in place, though some have certainly been replaced over the decades, with a few nicks to the enamel.
