On this piece
The companions to a legend. These clip earrings come from the same fabled 1949 Crown Trifari Schéhérazade series — the house’s Mughal-India masterwork — and carry its signature language in miniature: fluted glass cabochons in emerald green and ruby red, cut as pears and set among crystal rhinestones on gold plate. What a great pair of statement earrings does is frame the face the way the collection framed the throat, and these do it with real weight and presence, not the timid sparkle of ordinary clips. They appear in the prestigious costume-jewelry literature, as the best of this series does. Wear them with the Schéhérazade necklace if you’re building the suite, or alone — they hold a room on their own. Sixty-odd years on, the color is undimmed, because Trifari used imported glass and meant these to last. The best of the golden age, at the ear.
