On this piece
A proud American eagle above the words REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR, cut through in bold block capitals with a pearl set at the center. This is Staret's 1942 patriotic brooch, and it is one of the great achievements of the form. A single red rhinestone serves as the eagle's eye; a red, white and blue shield sits on its chest; crystal rhinestones run throughout with only a touch of red and blue, so that the words and the eagle carry the statement rather than competing with it. It appears in the Brunialtis' American Costume Jewelry in the patriotic section on page 242, where it receives their highest rating, five stars out of five, for collectibility and value. In museum-quality condition.
