An imperial Russian eagle rendered in vermeil over sterling silver, set with crystal and ruby red rhinestones and centered on a domed faux pearl. Nettie Rosenstein made jewelry the way she made clothes, for women who did not feel the need to explain themselves, and this is the most emphatic thing in her range. It is signed on the reverse with the Rosenstein mark along with Sterling. At 1.8 ounces it is genuinely heavy and will want a sturdy fabric to carry it. The brooch measures 2 7/8 inches wide by 3 1/8 inches tall. Very good vintage condition, with wear to the vermeil finish and some darkening to the crystal rhinestones, both from age.
