☉
Two bellhops joined by a chatelaine chain, one delivering a letter and the other a Western Union telegram: a small piece of the 1930s caught and kept. They are sterling silver in a gold-plated finish, and both are signed on the reverse with the Sterling mark. In searching through books and the internet we have found only one of these bellhops ever offered for sale, and that one was missing its partner and the chatelaine chain — which gives some sense of how rarely the pair survives together. Each bellhop is 1 1/8 inches wide and 1.75 inches tall, and the chain is 3 inches long. Excellent vintage condition, with minimal wear to the gold plating.
